4. Managing categories

Although the configuration of integration can be performed in any order, we recommend to start with category configuration. The panel dedicated to this activity has been divided into two parts: the upper one with the default action for unrelated categories, and the lower one, intended to indicate in your store equivalents for individual categories from the warehouse.

For categories that are not mapped, you can choose from four available options:

  • adding a missing category to the store and assigning the product accordingly

  • assigning the product to the specified default category

  • disabling adding products from unrelated categories

  • adding products as uncategorized (not available for some platforms, e.g. Shoper, eSklep home.pl, Sklepicom nazwa.pl)

For each of the categories provided by the wholesaler, you can select one category in the store to which the related products will be assigned. We recommend to create a target (or temporary) category tree before completing the integration and importing products to the store, as it makes the product management much easier later on.

The integrator recognizes categories by their identifiers in the store - after their creation, they can be freely moved, edited and hidden - it should not affect the proper operation of the integrator. Products added to the store can be freely transferred between categories - changes made in the store will not be overwritten by the integrator automatically.

If a category is deleted from the store, make sure that the related entry has been removed from the category map - otherwise errors may arise when referring to a category that does not exist.
